Full contest rules, eligibility, and terms are available below:
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
1. ELIGIBILITY: To participate in the Makeship Make It: Better Together Contest (“Contest”), you must:
(a) be a legal resident of the United States, Canada (VOID in Quebec), or any other country in which a promotion of the kind made by the Contest is legal, and not subject to any additional restrictions;
(b) be at least thirteen (13) years of age at the time of entry, and be legally capable of accepting these Contest Rules in your country of residence; and
(c) have a valid, public social media account (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, or X) in good standing as of the beginning of the Entry Period (see below).
Employees, and members of their immediate families and households, of the sponsor, Makeship Inc. (“Makeship”), its subsidiaries, affiliated companies, and anyone else involved in the handling of the Contest (including any affiliated content creators) are not eligible to participate and/or win. The Contest is void where prohibited or restricted. Limit one entry per person.
2. ENTRY PERIOD: The Contest entry period begins on September 2, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET and ends on September 16, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET (“Entry Period”).
3. HOW TO ENTER: Eligible entrants may enter by posting a public photo or video showing off their original plush design to their social media, using the hashtag #MakeshipMakeIt, during the Entry Period (“Entry Post”). The Entry Post must:
(a) depict an original plush design representing the entrant and their “bestie” (which may be a friend, family member, pet, or original character created by the entrant) — the design must be the entrant’s own original artwork, must not depict any copyrighted character or third-party intellectual property, and must not be created or generated using artificial intelligence (AI) tools;
(b) tag @makeship; and
(c) include a caption describing the design and what the entrant’s “bestie” means to them.
No more than one Entry Post may be made per entrant during the Entry Period, and the Entry Post must remain public until the winner is announced in order to remain valid.
4. SELECTION PROCESS: Entry Posts will be judged primarily on three criteria: originality, meaning, and creativity. After the Entry Period, employees of Makeship will review all eligible Entry Posts against these criteria and select ten (10) shortlisted finalists. The shortlisted finalists will be posted for public voting, with a link made available via Makeship’s social media bio/Linktree beginning on September 16, 2026. The finalist receiving the most community votes will be declared the winner. The winner will be notified on or about September 23, 2026, by direct message on social media and/or by a post on Makeship’s social media channels.
If a winner does not meet the stated eligibility requirements, or does not respond to Makeship’s message within the time period specified by Makeship, such winner may be deemed disqualified, and Makeship reserves the right to select an alternate winner from the remaining finalists. Winners may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, and, where legally permissible, a publicity release and/or provide other personal or tax information. If a potential winner is a minor in their country, state, or province of residence, any required documents must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Makeship’s decisions concerning selection of the winner, as well as all other matters relating to the Contest, are final and binding.
5. PRIZES/ODDS: The winner will receive:
(a) Four (4) custom Makeship plushies based on the winner’s Entry Post design (one designed after the winner, and one designed after their “bestie”), created in coordination with the Makeship design team; and
(b) One (1) US$100 Makeship gift card.
Prizes may not be substituted, transferred, or assigned except at Makeship’s sole discretion. All taxes and other expenses not listed in these Rules are the winner’s responsibility.
The winner agrees that, in order to proceed with the design of their custom plushies, they must enter into a design agreement which, among other things, acknowledges that the designs are created for personal use only and may not be commercialized or replicated without Makeship’s prior written permission, and releases Makeship in respect of material contributing to the design.
6. USER CREATED CONTENT: In respect of any creative material submitted by you, including but not limited to user-created content, by submitting your Entry Post: (1) you verify that you are the sole owner and producer of the submitted material, that it was created entirely by you without the use of artificial intelligence (AI) generation tools, and that no third-party ownership rights exist in any material submitted; and (2) you verify that the material is not obscene, defamatory, or otherwise illegal.
7. LIMITATION ON LIABILITY: Entrants release, discharge, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless Makeship, Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), and other social media sites and their respective directors, officers, employees, parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, agents and representatives (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claims or liability for any damages, injury or losses (including death) to any person or property, of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize or participation in the Contest.
8. GENERAL CONDITIONS: The Released Parties are not responsible for technical, network, electronic, computer, hardware or software failures of any kind, including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in or downloading any materials related to the Contest. The Released Parties are not responsible for incomplete, garbled, or delayed internet/email/computer entries or for any malfunction or technical errors occurring on any social media site on which the Contest is conducted. In the event that technical or other circumstances compromise the Contest, Makeship reserves the right to cancel, modify, or terminate the Contest, and/or to select a winner from all eligible entries received prior to the cancellation. The Released Parties are not responsible for typographical errors in the Contest, any social media site, or these Rules.
9. CLAIMS/CHOICE OF LAW: All issues and questions concerning these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrants in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard for conflicts of law doctrine, and all proceedings shall take place in British Columbia. All participants who enter the Contest agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia, Canada. Any and all claims, judgments, and awards in connection with the Contest shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event attorney’s fees; and under no circumstances will an entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrants hereby waive all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, and consequential damages and any other damages, other than actual out-of-pocket expenses.
10. PUBLICITY/RELEASE: Except where prohibited by law or regulation, by entering and/or accepting a prize you grant Makeship permission to use your name, username/online alias, likeness, and any user-generated content for any promotional purposes without additional compensation, consideration, or consent. Makeship’s use of all information collected from participants will be in accordance with its privacy policy, found at https://www.makeship.com/policies/privacy-policy. Makeship reserves the right to use any response or submission in all media, and to edit any response or submission for brevity and clarity. Any information provided is to Makeship and not to Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), or other social media sites.
